Bristol
Bristol is a Paris-based group active from 2013 to the present and is a project by Marc Collin, who is also known as a co-producer of Nouvelle Vague. The project brings together artists to reinterpret 1990s trip hop songs, with the idea of presenting them as if they were recorded as 1960s film soundtracks.
Work and style
The project is inspired by trip hop, with Massive Attack named among its key reference points. It extends beyond recording into visual and documentary forms: alongside an album, it includes a documentary and an exhibition built around the same concept.
Related names
Collin's wider profile as a producer places Bristol within a broader body of work associated with reinterpretation and collaboration. The name also appears elsewhere for other groups, including an indie and Brit rock band from Pindamonhangaba in São Paulo and a post-rock project from Charlottesville, Virginia.
