Brian McFadden is an Irish singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland, who is known for pop and pop rock music. He first comes to prominence in the late 1990s as a member of Westlife, one of the Irish male groups that becomes a multi-million-selling act. He later also works as part of Boyzlife.

Westlife

In June 1998, McFadden auditions for the new Irish boy band Westlife alongside Nicky Byrne. He joins the group with Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan. He leaves Westlife in March 2004 to spend more time with his family and to focus on solo work.

Solo career

After leaving Westlife, McFadden releases his debut solo album, Irish Son. The album reaches the top 5 in both Denmark and Ireland. Its first two No. 1 solo singles are “Real to Me”, which reaches No. 1 in four European countries, and “Almost Here”, a duet with Delta Goodrem that gains platinum certification in Australia.

His second album, Set in Stone (2008), includes “Like Only a Woman Can”, which becomes his third No. 1 single as a solo artist. In 2010 he scores his fourth No. 1 with “Just Say So”, a collaboration with American rapper Kevin Rudolf, and the single also gains his second Australian platinum certification. It is nominated for Most Popular Australian Single at the 2010 ARIA Music Awards.

Later releases and television

McFadden’s third studio album, Wall Of Soundz, is released in Australia in 2010 after originally being planned as a side project with American songwriter Rob Conley. The album debuts at No. 27 on the ARIA Albums Chart and remains in the ARIA top 50 for three weeks. Its second single, “Chemical Rush”, reaches No. 12, and “Mistakes”, a duet with Delta Goodrem, follows as a third single. In 2011 he releases “Just The Way You Are (Drunk at the Bar)”.

He also serves as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.
