Brezno is a folk metal group from Ljubljana, active since 2007. The band also incorporates symphonic metal into its sound. Its name means “The Abyss”.

Formation and style

Brezno forms in 2007 and develops a style rooted in folk metal, drawing on traditions the members associate with their ancestors and with older cultures. The group presents its music as connected to nature and to personal values and beliefs, and its lyrics focus on the relationship between people and the natural world.

Line-up

The current line-up consists of Sara Jeremič on vocals, Eva Zupan on flutes and whistles, Katarina Snoj on keyboards and vocals, Max Petač on guitars, Mitja Usenik on bass guitar and vocals, Luka “Lux” Žnideršič on guitar and vocals, and Matej Hrustek on drums.

Recordings and activity

Brezno records material for an introductory CD titled Viharnik. The group also plays concerts in Slovenia and nearby countries and develops a following through live performances.
