Brent Cobb

Brent Cobb is an American country singer-songwriter from Ellaville, Georgia. Born in 1986, he grows up in a musically active family, with music present in his home and in the homes of many relatives. He begins playing guitar at 13, then starts performing for family and friends, joining local cover bands and writing his own songs.

Early career and first album

Before his solo career takes shape, Cobb fronts the Georgia regional band Mile Marker 5 and occasionally opens shows for Luke Bryan. A family connection helps lead to his debut album, No Place Left To Leave, which is recorded in Los Angeles in 2006 and produced by his cousin Dave Cobb and Shooter Jennings. The album helps prompt his move to Los Angeles in 2007.

Los Angeles, Nashville and songwriting

After relocating to Los Angeles, Cobb works in the art department of a film production company, building sets by day while pursuing music at night. He later returns to Georgia after a robbery at gunpoint and then moves on to Nashville after Luke Bryan makes introductions that lead him to Carnival Music. He writes there and goes on to contribute songs to major-label projects for Kellie Pickler, The Eli Young Band and Luke Bryan.

Style and influences

Cobb’s songwriting and performance style draws on a wide range of influences, including Tom Petty, Bob Seger, The Rolling Stones, Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. His work sits within country music, with links to americana, country rock and alt-country.
