Brand of Sacrifice

Brand of Sacrifice is a Canadian deathcore band based in Toronto and active since 2018. The group includes Kyle Anderson and Leo Valeri, and features musicians from The Afterimage and Ascariasis. Their sound sits within deathcore, brutal death metal, death metal, metal and technical death metal, and it draws on hardcore and technical death metal structures, with dual guitars, blastbeat drums and guttural vocals.

Concept and style

The band’s identity is closely tied to the manga and anime series Berserk, which shapes its lyrical and visual approach. Kyle Anderson describes the project as “the death metal of anime”.

Brand of Sacrifice also incorporates instruments and arrangements not usually associated with extreme metal. Their 2018 debut EP, The Interstice, includes sitar solos, full choir parts, horns, harp, lyre and other early classical instruments.

Releases

The group releases its first full-length album, Godhand, in 2019, and follows it with Lifeblood in 2021. Godhand also appears on the Heatseeker chart.
