Boundaries

Boundaries is a post-punk group from Copenhagen, active since 2018. The project is described in the input as an American metallic hardcore band from Hartford, Connecticut, and its recorded history centres on metalcore, hardcore, beatdown hardcore, and metallic hardcore.

Line-up and membership

The current line-up comprises Matthew McDougal on vocals, Cory Emond and Cody DelVecchio on guitars, Nathan Calcagno on bass and vocals, and Tim Sullivan on drums and clean vocals. Founding guitarist Zadak Brooks leaves the band in 2022.

Releases

The band’s early EPs include Hartford County Misery and Spring Demonstration, followed by My Body in Bloom. Its first full-length album, Your Receding Warmth, is released through Unbeaten Records. A second full-length, Burying Brightness, follows in 2022 on 3DOT Recordings. The third album, Death Is Little More, appears in 2024 and is associated with singles including “Easily Erased”, “A Pale Light Lingers”, and “Scars On A Soul”.

Later activity

The band announces a fourth LP, Yearning: The unbeautiful after which, set for release on July 17, and identifies it as the first Boundaries record on Sumerian Records. It is also the first to be produced by Drew Fulk, following previous work with Randy LeBoeuf on earlier releases.

Style

Boundaries are noted for combining raw emotional intensity, technical riffing, melodic sections, and a strong tendency to change and develop across releases.
