Boozoo Bajou

Boozoo Bajou is a German electronic duo from Nürnberg, made up of Peter Heider and Florian Seyberth. Active since 1998, the group works in ambient dub, downtempo, dub, electronic, lounge and nu jazz, and is also associated with chillout, trip-hop and related downbeat styles.

Sound and style

The duo is noted for combining Cajun elements with island rhythms. Their music develops within a downbeat and lounge framework, and their early releases attract attention from DJs and club audiences internationally.

Early releases and debut album

Before their debut album, Boozoo Bajou issues three 12-inch records: Night over Manaus, Under my Sensi and Divers. Their first album, Satta, appears in 2001 on Stereo Deluxe, the Nuremberg-based downbeat, lounge and nu jazz label. The album becomes a long-running reference point for the downbeat scene, selling widely and appearing on many compilation releases. It also features in television advertising.

Later releases and compilation work

In 2003, the duo releases Juke Joint, a compilation of their favourite tracks by other artists. The limited edition is issued in a wooden box. Their third album, 4, appears in 2014.

Remixes and collaborations

Boozoo Bajou produce remixes for a range of artists, including Common, Tosca, Trüby Trio, Tony Joe White, Henry Mancini and Nelly Furtado. Their remix work and DJ performances help build their profile beyond their own recordings.

Performances

The duo tours as DJs internationally and also plays live shows. One of their 2003 performances is alongside The Cinematic Orchestra in Berlin, and they also perform at Vienna’s Dubclub.
