Booty Luv
Booty Luv is a London, United Kingdom dance group active from 2006 and made up of Cherise Roberts and Nadia Shepherd. The duo are both R&B vocalists and both previously performed in the hip-hop group Big Brovaz. Their music is associated with dance, dance-pop, electro-disco, funky house, nu disco and vocal house.
Formation and early releases
The group forms in June 2006 through recordings made during Big Brovaz’s Re-Entry sessions. Music executives offer Cherise and Nadia the opportunity to record a new version of Tweet’s club track “Boogie 2nite”, initially as a promotional recording for Hed Kandi. After the track receives a strong response from club DJs, it is issued as a single in the UK and mainland Europe.
Charting singles and debut album
“Boogie 2nite” becomes the first of Booty Luv’s UK hits, followed by a cover of Luther Vandross’s “Shine”, which reaches the UK Top 10 and spends time in the UK Top 40. Another cover, “Don’t Mess With My Man”, based on a Lucy Pearl song, reaches the UK Top 20. The group’s debut album, Boogie 2nite, is released in 2007 and enters the UK Albums Chart at number 11. The album includes the three hit singles, a further cover and five original songs, including “Some Kinda Rush”, which becomes the group’s fourth consecutive UK Top 20 hit and their first original release as a single.
Later activity
Booty Luv continues as an active act. The group is linked with Hed Kandi in its early period and later with Industry Sound. Cherise Roberts and Nadia Shepherd remain the members named with the project.
