Bonny Doon

Bonny Doon is an indie rock band from Detroit, United States, active since 2014. The group forms around Bill Lennox on vocals and guitar, Bobby Colombo on vocals and guitar, Josh Brooks on bass, and Jake Kmiecik on drums.

Early releases and debut album

The band introduces itself in 2014 with a four-song 7-inch EP on Detroit label Salinas Records. A second release follows in early 2015 as a five-song cassette, Classical Days and Jazzy Nights, issued on Fred Thomas’ Life Like label. Bonny Doon then records its self-titled debut album with Thomas. Bonny Doon appears on Salinas Records in 2017 and combines introspective writing with guitar pop.

Later albums

After the debut, Woodsist signs the band for its next LP. Longwave appears in 2018 and is built from improvisations developed during a weeklong stay at Mystic Lake in Michigan. It is recorded at Benton Harbor’s Key Club Recording with Bill Skibbe and Shelley Salant, and presents a more stripped-down, languid version of the band’s sound. The group’s third full-length album, Let There Be Music, follows in 2023.
