Bonnie 'Prince' Billy is the recording name used by Will Oldham, a singer-songwriter, actor and musician from Louisville, United States, born in 1970. His work sits within americana, country, folk, folk rock and singer-songwriter traditions, and is often classed as alt-country.

Oldham records under several names, including Palace, Palace Music, Palace Brothers and Bonnie Billy. He releases his first solo album in 1993. The Bonnie 'Prince' Billy name draws on several references, including Bonnie Prince Charlie, Billy the Kid and Nat King Cole.

Collaborations and groups

He often records with other musicians, but is generally the main creator of the music. Recurring collaborators include David Pajo and his brothers Ned Oldham and Paul Oldham.
