Bob Lind

Bob Lind is a contemporary folk and singer-songwriter from Baltimore, United States. Born Robert Neale Lind in 1942, he is known for his 1960s recording career and for one major transatlantic hit single.

Career

He signs to World Pacific Records in 1965 and achieves his biggest success with Elusive Butterfly, a prominent 1966 single. The record becomes a chart hit on both sides of the Atlantic, and in the UK it competes with a rival version by Val Doonican; both versions reach the Top Ten. Despite that success, he remains closely associated with that one song.

Lind retires from the music business in 1969 to pursue other interests. He later lives in Florida and works as a writer, authoring five novels and contributing to publications including Weekly World News and The Sun. He returns to performing in 2004 and establishes an official website.

Later recognition

The British band Pulp writes a song named Bob Lind (The Only Way Is Down) on the album We Love Life. Reissues of some of his 1960s and 1970s releases also appear in later years, including the album that contains Elusive Butterfly.
