Bob Fox

Bob Fox is a folk singer from Seaham, near Sunderland, on the north-east coast of England. Born in 1953, he works in the United Kingdom folk scene and is also a musician who plays guitar, piano and dulcimer. His repertoire includes traditional songs and more modern material, and he is known for his spoken between-song patter as well as his singing.

Career

Fox begins recording and performing in the 1970s. He makes relatively few solo recordings, but he appears in several collaborative projects and bands. He forms a duo with Stu Luckley, and their first album together is Nowt So Good’ll Pass. He also serves as singer and keyboard player with the Celtic band The Rub, and he has a stint with the short-lived Vin Garbutt Band.

Later work

Fox is also associated with The Pitmen Poets, alongside Jez Lowe and Julie Matthews. His work is rooted in folk, with a strong North East English connection reflected in both his background and his repertory.
