BLOOMS CORDA

BLOOMS CORDA is a Ukrainian group active since 2014. The band is based in Ukraine and is associated with funk, lounge, blues, jazz and acoustic music, with Ukrainian-language lyrics at the centre of its work.

Overview

The group records and performs material written by frontman Danilo Galico, who writes both the lyrics and the music. Critics describe the band’s sound as unusually well matched to Ukrainian-language text, set against funk, blues and jazz arrangements. Galico characterises the group’s style as a “round-the-box, around-jazzy, acoustic” genre.

Releases

In 2015, BLOOMS CORDA records its debut album, Monodance. In 2016, it issues a second full-length album, Gigotosia, as a commercial release.

Formation and name

Galico links the band’s creation to an idea that emerges on a flight to Kutaisi, where the concept of making an acoustic album first takes shape. The name BLOOMS CORDA combines words from different languages and is explained as meaning “flowers of the heart.”
