Bloodbath

Bloodbath is a Swedish death metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1998. The group begins as a collaboration between Mikael Åkerfeldt, Anders Nyström, Jonas Renkse and Dan Swanö, who set out to play death metal inspired by the style of Entombed and by US Florida death metal bands. It remains active and is also described as a supergroup.

Line-up

The band’s members include Mikael Åkerfeldt, Dan Swanö, Jonas Renkse, Anders Nyström, Peter Tägtgren, Martin Axenrot, Per Eriksson, Nick Holmes, Joakim Karlsson and Tomas Åkvik. Åkerfeldt leaves after the release of Resurrection Through Carnage, returns in 2008 and leaves again in 2012. He also performs with the band at Wacken in 2006. Peter Tägtgren replaces him for Nightmares Made Flesh. In 2014, Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost becomes the band’s vocalist.

Releases

Bloodbath releases its fourth full-length album, Grand Morbid Funeral, through Peaceville Records. The band’s earlier full-lengths mentioned in the available information include Resurrection Through Carnage and Nightmares Made Flesh.

Style

The band works within death metal and is associated with black metal, blackened death metal, brutal death metal, deathgrind and melodic death metal. Its early approach is rooted in old-style death metal.
