Blockheads

Blockheads are a French grindcore group from Lorraine, active since 1992. They form part of the European extreme metal scene and are known for a sound rooted in grindcore and related extreme forms.

Early releases

The group forms in 1992 and issues its first demo, Haaashaastaak, in 1993. Its first studio album, Last Tribes, follows in 1995, and Watch Out appears in 1998 after the band experiences line-up difficulties.

Recordings and label history

In 2000, Blockheads sign with Bones Brigade, a label focused on extreme music. The label reissues the first two albums together as From Womb to Genocide. A third album, Human Parade, follows in 2001. In 2006, the band releases Shapes of Misery on Overcome Records.

Live reputation

After these releases, Blockheads play numerous festivals and become recognised as an important grindcore act in Europe. They also perform alongside Napalm Death, Nasum, Obituary, Entombed, Sick of it All, Carcass, Soulfly and Mumakil.
