Blitzkrieg
Blitzkrieg are a heavy metal band from Leicester, United Kingdom, formed in October 1980 and active from 1980 to the present. Their music sits within heavy metal, metal and NWOBHM, and they are a UK heavy metal band.
Early history and original releases
The group signs to Neat Records early in its career and plays regularly in England before splitting in 1981. During this first period they release the single Buried Alive, and the title track later becomes the version that inspires Metallica’s cover on the Creeping Death EP. Lars Ulrich names Blitzkrieg among Metallica’s key influences, alongside Diamond Head.
A Time of Changes and later recordings
In 1984 Brian Ross and founding member Jim Sirotto regroup with guitarist Mick Proctor, bassist Mick Moore and drummer Sean Taylor to record the album A Time of Changes, which is eventually released in 1985 after originally being planned for release in 1981. The band then records 10 Years of Blitzkrieg in 1990, which appears in 1991, and follows it with Unholy Trinity in 1995. Ten appears in 1997, and The Mists of Avalon follows in 1998.
Later line-up and albums
After Brian Ross is involved in a car accident that delays further releases, he later reforms Blitzkrieg and the group records Absolute Power, the live album Absolutely Live, and Sins and Greed. In 2007 they release Theatre of the Damned through Armageddon Music.
