Blindfold

Blindfold is an Icelandic indie band associated with the 2000s. The group is presented as a four-piece made up of Sven on guitar, Teitur on bass, Friðrik on drums, and Biggi Hilmarsson as frontman and composer, with the band based around a sound built from layered textures, vocals and guitar-led arrangements.

Their music is described as crossing genre boundaries and drawing comparisons with Radiohead, Muse and Sigur Rós, while still keeping its own distinct style. Their debut album Blindfold receives a strongly positive response, and the songs “Faking Dreams”, “Sad Face” and “Fit You” are singled out as notable singles. The band also plays live and on record as part of its identity.

Blindfold’s broader style sits across post-rock, shoegaze, ambient and hardcore influences, reflecting the varied way the name is used for different acts in music listings. For the Icelandic act, the emphasis is on atmospheric, carefully constructed songs and a mix of instrumental detail with expressive vocals.
