Blind Yackety

Blind Yackety is a group from Krefeld, Germany, active from 1984 to the present. It is associated with heavy metal, metal, power metal, progressive metal and speed metal, and the line-up includes Hansi Kürsch, Thomen Stauch, André Olbrich, Marcus Siepen and Frederik Ehmke.

The band is described as an eight-piece act with a changing membership and a broad range of influences. Its sound draws on fifties lounge pop, psychedelic music, Arabic soul music and film-score-style climaxes associated with Ennio Morricone. It uses layered vocal harmonies, tropical rhythms and intricate guitar work, combining quieter passages with driving choruses and abrupt, optimistic shifts.

The group’s songs are presented as expressing a search for light in a cold and meaninglessness modern world. Its debut album is titled Fences and Furnaces, and its split 7-inch single Easy Days is also part of its recorded output.

Blind Yackety also performs live in Ireland and the UK, where it has played gigs and festivals.
