Blazey

Blazey is an Afro-German singer, songwriter and entertainer from Germany. He has roots in Togo and is based in Berlin. His music combines afrobeats with modern pop and R&B, drawing on the music he grows up listening to. He is also identified as queer.

Style and themes

Blazey’s sound centres on soulful vocals and strong rhythmic patterns, with songs that aim for a balance of vulnerability, power and uplift. His work reflects an identity shaped by growing up between different cultures, and he presents himself as a representative of young Europeans with multicultural backgrounds. He also frames his artistic identity around being a role model for African children in Germany and elsewhere.

Career

He debuts in 2019 under the pseudonym Millé. His first single, All Good, goes on to gain more than 5 million streams on Spotify and reaches the Top 40 of the German Radio Charts. In 2021, he begins a new phase with a different sound and approach. The single Never Go Back reflects on leaving behind past struggles and choosing confidence and positivity. Another later song, From Afar, features smooth vocals and emotional lyrics. His releases are followed by an EP and live shows across Germany.
