Blackout Crew

Blackout Crew are a group of DJs and MCs from Bolton, though they are also associated with soundalike releases under Drew’s Entertainment. They form in 2004 at Harmony, a Lottery-funded youth club, and their name is linked to a club-oriented style of dance music.

Members

The group includes six MCs: Kevin Allison, who performs as Dowie MC; Rob Davis, known as MC Rapid; Kurtis Chadwick, known as MC Viper; Matty Fisher, known as Dubble MC; Zak Kabbani, known as MC Zak K; and Jordan Cover, known as MC Cover. The two DJs are Zak Mason, known as DJ Saha, and Ashley Liptrott, known as DJ Lippy. Both DJs develop through the DJ sessions at Harmony and also mentor other aspiring DJs there.

Notable track

They are best known for the club track “Put A Donk On It”, which brings them wider attention. The track is described as a tongue-in-cheek comment on “chav” culture, using popular dance tracks with a heavy “donk” sample added.
