Black Hats are a three-piece post-punk band from Oxford, in the United Kingdom. Formed in 2006, the line-up consists of guitarist Nick Breakspear, bassist Ian Budd and drummer Mark Franklin.

The band’s music is associated with alternative and indie rock as well as a spiky post-punk style. Its release Tunnels / Blood and Space is described as a double A-side, and the track Tunnels appears on the free compilation album Spires. The band also receives airplay on BBC Introducing and BBC 6Music.

Black Hats work with producer Sam Williams, who is described as Mercury-nominated and linked with Supergrass, Plan B and The Go! Team!. The band is also mentioned in connection with a BBC Introducing stage appearance at Wychwood Festival.
