Black Crown Initiate is an American progressive death metal group from Reading, Pennsylvania. The band forms in 2012 and remains active. Its lineup includes Jesse Beahler, James Dorton and Andy Thomas. The group’s style sits across death metal, progressive metal and technical death metal, with related deathcore associations also attached to it.

Early releases and label work

The band self-releases its first EP, Song of the Crippled Bull, which receives positive reviews. It later signs to eOne Music and releases The Wreckage of Stars through the label, followed by Selves We Cannot Forgive.

Touring and development

In early 2014, Black Crown Initiate tours extensively with extreme metal acts including Goatwhore, Behemoth and 1349. That touring activity leads to the group’s signing with eOne Music in June 2014.
