Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat are a Scottish collaboration between bassist, pianist and experimental jazz composer Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat, best known from Arab Strap. Their partnership begins in 2003, when Arab Strap invite Wells to contribute music to Monday at the Hug & Pint. After that session, Wells and Moffat decide to make an album together, and they begin recording shortly afterwards.

The project develops slowly over several years, with the two musicians working towards a full album’s worth of material through an extended creative process. Their music sits at the intersection of indie, jazz, spoken word and chamber jazz, drawing on Wells’s background in experimental jazz composition and Moffat’s role as a vocalist and lyricist in Arab Strap.
