Bilge Pump
Bilge Pump are a post-punk and rock group from Leeds, United Kingdom. The band forms in 1996 and consists of Emlyn Jones on bass and vocals, Joe Mask on guitar and vocals, and Neil Turpin on drums.
Releases and recordings
The group releases two full-length albums on Gringo Records: Let Me Breathe and Rupert The Sky. It also records two Maida Vale sessions for John Peel’s BBC radio programme in 2003.
Other releases and associated projects
In 2006, Bilge Pump appears on a vinyl split single on Run of the Mill with a version of Jonathan Richman’s “Government Center”, paired with Pifco’s cover of “She Cracked”. At Leeds’ annual Chinchillafest in May 2008, ticket holders receive a CD compilation of eight Bilge Pump covers recorded by eight different artists.
Style
The band is known for raucous noise, unusual song titles and distinctive lyrics.
