Bigtop
Bigtop is a group name used for two different projects. One is an Argentine power pop punk band from Rosario, Santa Fe. The other is a collaborative electronic project from the United States involving Gabriel & Dresden and the Bassbin Twins.
Argentina
The Argentine Bigtop begins activity in mid-2008, when the band starts performing on local stages and working on its first song, “GO”. That track appears on the group’s first sampler and also receives a promotional video clip made under the production of Hernan Roperto, with artistic collaboration from GS (All the Hats / Malone).
Before Bigtop, Luciano Moreyra, on vocals and guitar, and FranFran Cavallone, on drums, play together in the punk rock band Tercer Dedo. That earlier group releases an album, shares shows with well-known bands in the Argentine scene, and tours several cities. After that period, they dissolve the project and look for new musical directions.
Emma Bugliolo joins the lineup on vocals and bass. In 2009, the band appears at major local events including Vans Street Tour. At the start of 2010, Nico Faranna joins on guitar and vocals. The group then records five songs for its first EP, also titled Bigtop. The EP is post-produced by Gomez Billie study (All the Hats / Carmina Burana) and released digitally through a joint production of DOG Works and LEPORK RECORDS.
United States
The US Bigtop is a collaboration between Gabriel & Dresden and the Bassbin Twins. Under this name, the project releases two tracks, “Tidal” and “Sub”, both issued on Gabriel & Dresden’s label, Organized Nature.
