Big Fat Panda

Big Fat Panda is a ska and reggae group from Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. Formed by friends who had already played in various bands on the ska scene, the group comes together to combine their experience and individual skills, and it has been active since 2007.

Style and influences

The band’s music draws on Jamaican styles including ska, rocksteady and reggae. It plays mostly original material alongside a small number of well-known classics, with an emphasis on live performance.

Live work

Big Fat Panda plays regular shows in Edinburgh and is also booked for major events across the UK, including festivals and scooter rallies. It is known for energetic performances and has been described in live reviews as delivering lively, upbeat sets to growing crowds.

Recordings and releases

The group’s debut release is It’s Oot, a 12-track CD. Its songs also appear on a number of compilation albums, including UK Ska 2Day, In The Pub – Vol 2, and several charity compilations for Teenage Cancer Charity: Rat Race in 2012, Doors of Your Heart in 2013, Johnny The Horse in 2014, and Keys To Your Heart in 2015. Another track, Betrayal of the Cossacks, appears on UK Ska 2Day.
