Big Business
Big Business is a heavy rock group from Seattle and Los Angeles that forms in 2004 and is active from 2004 to the present. The band starts in the Seattle area and relocates to Los Angeles in February 2006. It is signed to Gold Metal, the record label the band members form themselves.
Line-up and members
Big Business is a duo in its core form, made up of Jared Warren and Coady Willis. The wider line-up is described as a power trio, with Scott Martin joining by 2011. Warren is also associated with Karp, The Whip and Tight Bros From Way Back When. Willis is also associated with The Murder City Devils and Dead Low Tide. Martin is associated with 400 Blows.
Style and recordings
The band is described as stoner rock and sludge, and also tagged as stoner metal and metal. Its second full-length album, Here Come The Waterworks, is released in early 2007 on Hydra Head. It is recorded in Seattle shortly after the sessions for A Senile Animal with the Melvins. David Scott Stone contributes guitar and Moog synthesizer on the album.
Work with the Melvins
In 2006, Warren and Willis are asked to join the Melvins after the band again needs a bass player. They record A Senile Animal in July 2006 and begin a U.S. tour in September, with Big Business among the opening acts. During those shows, Dale Crover sometimes joins on guitar. Big Business members also appear on later Melvins albums, including Nude with Boots in 2008 and The Bride Screamed Murder in 2010.
