Betoko is a house producer from Mexico associated with Mexico and the United Kingdom. Born in 1979, he works across house, melodic house, melodic techno, progressive house, tech house and techno.

Background

Betoko, also known as Beto Cohen, grows up in a creative family environment as the son of actress and singer Malu Galan. He starts playing guitar and drums in bands at the age of 12. By the age of 20, he sets up his own studio, a production company and a modelling agency called DAMDARA in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Career

He becomes active in dance music as a writer, producer and remixer, and works with Dubaholics, Kobe, Dino Lenny and Meck, among others. He also remixes material for Allure, The Energies, Feeder, Cassius Henry and Judge Jules.

His track Run, co-produced with Dino, is used in the US television series CSI.

Record label work

In 2007, Betoko joins Wow! Records, the label founded by Club Amnesia Ibiza resident DJ Mar-T. He releases the Destination EP in two parts, featuring the tracks Xuplak and Someday.

Part 1 includes a remix of Xuplak by Karotte and Gregor Tresher. Their remix appears on the Love Family Park compilation of 2007, alongside artists including Ricardo Villalobos, Magda, Plastikman, Tiefschwarz, Gabriel Ananda, Sven Vath and Luciano.

Part 2 includes two remixes of Someday, one by Mar-T and one by Llorca. Someday is included on the Amnesia Underground 7 compilation, mixed by Mar-T and Tobi Neumann.
