Beres Hammond

Beres Hammond is a Jamaican singer and producer from Saint Mary, Jamaica. Born in 1955, he is associated with lovers rock, reggae and soul, and is also linked with dancehall and roots reggae.

He starts his career in the 1970s and becomes widely popular in the digital era of reggae. His distinctive vocal style is often described as rich and deep, and he remains active as both a recording and producing artist.

Hammond’s work appears on labels including Penthouse and Xterminator, and he also releases music through his own Harmony House imprint. Harmony House is one of the labels most closely associated with his catalogue.

Before his solo career, he is a member of Zap Pow. He is regarded as one of Jamaica’s leading contemporary vocalists.
