Benny Benassi is an Italian DJ, producer and remixer from Reggio Emilia, Italy. Born Marco Benassi in 1967, he works in electro house and house, and is also associated with earlier euro house and club music.

Career

Benassi begins DJing in the late 1980s in his hometown with his cousin Alle Benassi. The two later work together in the studio and release music as Benassi Bros. In the mid-1990s, they move to Larry Pignagnoli’s Off Limits production studio, where they make tracks for acts including Whigfield, J.K. and Ally & Jo.

Solo work and major releases

His first major international hit is I Feel So Fine, released in 2001 under the name KMC with vocals by Dhany. He then shifts from eurohouse towards electro, and in 2003 and 2004 has another major hit with Satisfaction. That track reaches number 2 on the UK singles chart after a replacement video is used by Ministry of Sound. Some of his singles chart highly in the United Kingdom and are played widely in clubs around the world.

Remixes and label work

Benassi also remixes recordings by other artists, including DJ Tomcraft and Fischerspooner. He creates the record label Pump-Kin Music, which focuses on new and unsigned producers and is intended to give exposure to lesser-known DJ and production talent internationally.

Associated acts

He works with Benassi Bros., and DJ Kaos is also listed among his associated acts.
