Benediction

Benediction is a death metal group from Birmingham, United Kingdom, active from 1988. The band forms part of the UK death metal scene and its early line-up includes Paul Adams on bass, Peter Rew and Darren Brookes on guitars, and Mark “Barney” Greenway on vocals. Greenway later leaves the group and is replaced by Dave Ingram on vocals.

Early releases and label

The band records the demo The Dreams You Dread in 1989. That recording brings them to the attention of Nuclear Blast Records and leads to a record deal. Their debut album, Subconscious Terror, follows in 1990.

Touring

In 1991, Benediction tours with Bolt Thrower and Nocturnus. The group’s line-up across its career includes Barney Greenway, Darren Brookes, Peter Rew, Dave Ingram, Frank Healy, Neil Hutton and Dave Hunt.
