Ben Prestage is a blues and folk musician from south central Florida, associated with Mississippi country blues and Florida swamp blues. He grows up in the swamps of the region and develops a style that blends Delta blues influences with his own swamp blues approach.
He performs widely across the United States, including in California, the Carolinas and the Florida Keys. His appearances range from large festivals to bars and street performances in downtown areas.
Prestage is known for playing blues on a handmade cigar box guitar while keeping percussion with his feet. He also plays the diddley bow, and he becomes the only two-time recipient of the Lyons/Pitchford Award for Best Diddley-Bow Player. At the 2006 International Blues Challenge, he is voted one of the three best unsigned performers in the world.
The Key West Newspaper describes him as “one of the best you'll ever hear if you live to be 100.”
