Beataucue

Beataucue is a French electronic group from Caen, Normandy, active from 2009. The group centres on Médéric and Alexis, who begin making music at home before moving into club-oriented production and remix work.

Career

The duo first draw attention through remixes of tracks including Noob & Brodinski’s “Peanuts Club” and Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor”. They then produce a run of remixes within a short period, working on material by Boys Noize, Two Door Cinema Club, Kylie Minogue, Designer Drugs, Armand Van Helden and Steve Aoki, among others. Their work also receives regular support and playlisting from Crookers, Cassius, Armand Van Helden, Steve Aoki, Diplo, Erol Alkan, Fake Blood, Brodinski and Skrillex.

Pony Pony Run Run also plays their remix for them in an aftershow DJ set. Beataucue’s remix of Kylie Minogue’s “Get Outta My Way” receives positive reaction from Kylie Minogue herself. Their version of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” through the Two Door Cinema Club cover becomes the jingle for the French television programme Le Grand Journal on Canal+ from September 2010.

Releases

Their debut EP appears on Kitsuné in April 2010. Their track “Disque Oh!” appears on Kitsuné Maison 10, alongside artists including Digitalism, Yelle, Two Door Cinema Club and Blackstrobe. “Disque Oh!” is also issued as a single in early 2011 with five exclusive remixes on Kitsuné, including versions by Don Rimini, J-Wow of Buraka Som Sistema and High Rankin.

Another track, “Behold”, appears on the Kitsuné Parisien compilation. The group also continues to produce remixes for acts including Yelle, The Subs, Don Rimini and Adrian Lux, with the latter appearing on Ultra Records. A second EP, Falcon Punch, is planned in the same period.
