Bearsuit

Bearsuit are a UK art-rock and indie pop group from Norfolk, based in Norwich. The group is active from 2001 and consists of Lisa Horton, Jan Roberton and Iain Ross. Their sound is described as drawing on dance and electronica as well as art-rock, dance-punk and indie pop, and they are compared with acts including Architecture in Helsinki, Everything Everything, The Go! Team, Sonic Youth, Deerhoof, Huggy Bear and Black Kids.

Releases and labels

Bearsuit release records on several labels, including Fantastic Plastic Records, Happy Happy Birthday To Me and Micro Indie in the US. Their album The Phantom Forest is recorded by Gareth Parton, who also works with The Go! Team, Foals and The Breeders, and it is released on Fortuna Pop! The band also issues the single Princess, You're A Test and makes it available as a free download.

Live activity and recognition

The band tours in the UK and Europe and plays at festivals including Latitude, Bestival, The Great Escape and Offset, as well as SXSW, Emmaboda in Sweden, CMJ in New York, Primavera Festival and Contempopranea Festival in Spain. At CMJ, the group is voted Best Breakthrough Act in a New York Times poll of badge-holders. Their work also receives support from BBC radio presenters including John Peel, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank, Phill Jupitus, Marc Riley, Tom Ravenscroft, Tom Robinson, Colin Murray, Gideon Coe and John Kennedy.

Later projects

Lisa Horton, Jan Robertson and Iain Ross continue to record together as Mega Emotion and Lady Di.

Bearsuit receive notice from NME, The Guardian and Artrocker, where they are named for Vinyl of the Week, Pick of the Week and Album of the Fortnight respectively. Reviews also appear in Pitchfork.
