Be Like Pablo

Be Like Pablo is a group from the North-East of Scotland. The band previously performs under the name Dan Against the World before changing its name after a major lineup change.

Music and style

The group makes guitar-based pop with bright male and female vocal harmonies. Their sound combines classic pop song structures with noisier guitars and synth parts, and is described in their own terms as drawing on influences such as the Beach Boys and Cars, with Scottish accents.

Line-up

The band consists of Jen Blackburn on vocals, synth, violin, glockenspiel and hand claps; Jamie Murphy on bass and vocals; Ewen Watson on songs, vocals, guitar and synth; and Ross Watson on guitar and vocals. The names are given in alphabetical order.

Recordings and collaborators

Be Like Pablo are recording their debut album at Ca Va Sound Studios in Glasgow with Brian McNeill as producer. Their recordings also feature Alyn Cosker on drums, Patsy Craig on cello, and Brian McNeill on piano. Cosker is also noted for work with Isobel Campbell, Mark Lanegan and Belle & Sebastian, while Craig is associated with Site of Future Rome.
