BayaWaka is the DJ and promoter alias of Golan Aflalo, based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Born and raised in Jerusalem, he develops an early interest in music through classic rock, hard rock, metal, blues, 1960s and 1970s music, as well as Israeli music. Electronic music enters his life in the mid-1990s, after which he focuses on trance, techno and progressive styles.
Since 2008, he moves mainly towards bass music, including glitch, psystep and chillout. He describes his stage name as a reference to a colour-changing lizard, reflecting the range of styles he plays and mixes together.
Activity and scene involvement
BayaWaka is active as a club and festival promoter in Tel Aviv and is also involved in producing art and music exhibitions in the city. He is associated with Enig'matik Records.
Festival appearances
He DJed at a number of European festivals, including Tree of Life, Freqs of Nature, Antaris, Boom Festival, Utopia after Boom, Ozora, Lost Theory, Vuuv Festival and Transylvania Calling.
