Battle of You

Battle of You is a group from Helsinki, Finland, active since 2003 and releasing music on Unreal Productions. The band works in an alternative pop style, with songs that combine pop hooks with a more alternative and provocative approach.

The group is known for a striking live performance and an androgynous image. It is compared with acts including Gossip, Bowie and The Cure, while its pop side is also placed alongside bands such as Passion Pit, MGMT and Coldplay.

In 2012, Battle of You gains wider attention through BBC Radio 6 with Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing programme and on Absolute Radio through Pete Donaldson’s Sunday Night Music Club. They are also selected by Emerging Icons, a Universal initiative, to perform at the London 2012 Games and are named as one of its Best Acts of 2012.

The band performs for the Paralympic Games and receives coverage from BBC News, which features its performance at the Paralympics and the songs “To The Sea” and “Nobody Knows” on the Six O’Clock News. During the same period, it plays venues including O2 Islington Academy2, Scala and 100 Club, and appears at Bad Sex at Proud, Queen of Hoxton and a sold-out show at Candy Bar.

After three months in the studio in 2013, Battle of You has a debut EP and prepares to release its debut single, “Rebecca”. A music video for the single is in post-production with animators Plenty, who have worked with MTV and Sony.
