Basswell

Basswell is a French techno DJ and producer from Lyon, France. Born Mathias Boitel in 1997, he works in hard techno and techno, with a sound shaped by industrial influences, fast tempos and heavy basslines. His music often draws on the aesthetics of 1990s rave culture while using a modern hard techno approach.

Career

Basswell first gains wider attention with early releases including the Speech of the Ashes EP, which includes the tracks “Sudden Death” and “A Call from Evil”. Other well-known tracks include “Bass Down Low”, “Around” and “Hear the Sound”. His releases appear on techno labels including Exhale, linked with Amelie Lens, and Color.

Live performances and projects

He performs across Europe at events such as Verknipt Festival, Rotterdam Rave and Tomorrowland, as well as in club showcases. He builds a reputation for high-energy DJ sets aimed at large dancefloors. Beyond recording and performance, he expands his work through Unartful, a project that includes a record label, events and merchandise connected to his artistic identity.
