Bass Generator is a DJ based in Newcastle, UK, associated with bouncy techno, happy hardcore and rave. He starts DJing in 1987 and produces his first record in 1989, when he also sets up Bass Generator Records.

Career

He becomes a resident DJ for Rezerection in Newcastle in 1991 and moves into the Scottish scene in 1992, where he plays bookings at a wide range of hardcore events, from small clubs to large outdoor all-nighters. He is described as being at the forefront of the 1990s Scottish hardcore scene.

Releases and label work

Through Bass Generator Records, and with the early help of Scott Brown’s releases under the names Lord of Hardcore and Genetik, the label puts out more than 40 singles by 1997. Bass Generator also releases The Event.

Events and live work

He starts the Judgement Day events in 1993. His profile also notes sales of more than one million mix tapes, DJ appearances at more than 1,500 events, and an unofficial world record for DJing at seven events in one night. He is presented as the number one DJ in the Scottish hardcore scene.
