Bass Clef
Bass Clef is the recording name of Ralph Cumbers, a Bristol-born electronic musician who later moves to Hackney. His music centres on low-end sound and draws on dubstep, ambient and experimental electronic forms. He begins releasing work under this name in the mid-2000s and develops from an early dubstep-like approach into more modular and exploratory production.
Releases
His first album, A Smile Is A Curve That Straightens Most Things, appears in 2006. He follows it with Zamyatin Digitised in 2007, May The Bridges I Burn Light The Way in 2009, inner space break free in 2011, and Reeling Skullways in 2012. In 2018 he also releases (Minimum Wage), (Zero Hours) and (Infinite Forest).
Other projects and collaborations
Alongside Bass Clef, Cumbers records as Some Truths. He also collaborates with Nick Edwards, known as Ekoplekz, under the name Ekoclef, and with Heatsick as HSBC.
