Barnstar!

Barnstar! is a United States bluegrass group active since 2011. The band brings together Jake Armerding on fiddle, his father Taylor Armerding on mandolin, Mark Erelli, Zachariah Hickman on upright bass and Charlie Rose on banjo. The spelling of Jake Armerding’s name is used here in its corrected form, and Zachariah Hickman appears in place of Zack Hickman.

Style and activity

The group works in bluegrass and americana, and is described as an informal, partly imaginary project. It plays only a small number of shows each year, usually in noisy bars, and is known for the loose, occasional nature of its performances.

Recognition

Barnstar! receives an Iguana Fund Grant from Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which supports the documentation of the band’s live performances.
