Barker

Barker is the name used by more than one act. It is also an alias of Berlin-based DJ and producer Sam Barker, who records under the name Voltek and works both as a solo artist and as one half of Barker & Baumecker. He is a longtime resident DJ at Berghain and a co-founder of Leisure System, an event series and record label focused on dancefloor experimentation.

Under Barker, Sam Barker explores the outer edges of dance music. His work is usually associated with hard, intricately built club techno, while his solo releases as Barker move toward shimmering ambient techno and often avoid kick drums. His full-length Utility is one example of that approach.

Barker is also the name of a post-hardcore band from Leicester, England. That group releases music through Bandcamp and has one EP, Barker Bloody Barker.
