Barbatuques

Barbatuques is a Brazilian group of body percussionists focused on exploring the range of sounds that can be made with the human body. Their performances combine claps, finger snaps, chest percussion, mouth noises, vocals and other bodily sounds to create rhythms and melodies.

The group works with the idea of a “body orchestra”, in which the performers improvise together using the body as a shared instrument. Its sound is associated with body percussion and also with afro house, dance, dubstep, EDM, electronica and future bass.
