Band of Holy Joy
Band of Holy Joy are an English group from New Cross, London. They form in 1984 and remain active, with a line-up that includes Adrian Bailey, Mark Beazley, Karel van Bergen, Johny Brown, James Stephen Finn, Hilary Jeffery, John Jenkins, William Lewington, Alfie Thomas and Brett Turnbull. Their music sits across folk, folk punk and post-punk, with tags also associating them with experimental, indie and folk rock.
History
The band is initially active between 1984 and 1993 and releases several albums during that period. In 1992 they shorten their name to Holy Joy. They reform in 2002 under the Band of Holy Joy name and release Love Never Fails. From 2003 to 2006 they focus on other musical projects, then begin performing live again in 2007.
Later releases
From 2017 onwards, the band releases a series of albums on Tiny Global Productions, including Funambulist We Love You, Neon Primitives, Dreams Take Flight and Fated Beautiful Mistakes. Their latest release is Scorched Jerusalem.
