BAMBii

BAMBii is Kirsten Azan, a Toronto-based DJ and producer who works across electronic music and draws on dancehall, global club, ballroom, reggaetón, jersey club and garage. Raised in multicultural Toronto, she uses the name given to her by her mother, who introduced her to a wide range of music while she was growing up.

Releases and style

In 2019, she releases her debut dancehall single, “NITEVISION”, featuring Jamaican dancehall artist Pamputtae. The track highlights women’s role in club culture, and her production makes frequent use of samples and breaks across different genres. She is also working on an EP.

JERK and live work

For the past decade, she hosts the travelling event series JERK, which serves as a platform for her music exploration. As a solo artist, she appears on stages including Brooklyn’s AFROPUNK, and she performs across Europe and Asia. She also supports artists such as Mykki Blanco, Kelela and MikeQ.
