Bambee is the stage name of Desirée Sparre-Enger, a Norwegian euro-dance act from Oslo. She is associated with bubblegum dance, bubblegum pop, EDM, electro, euro house and eurodance.

Background

Desirée Sparre-Enger begins performing pop music from an early age and takes part in school performances throughout her school years. She also appears in stage musicals including The Sound of Music and Les Misérables. Before recording under the Bambee name, she works in the youth department of a national radio station.

Recording career

Her first recording opportunity comes when a producer asks her to sing a chorus on a track, which leads to her debut single, “Candy Girl”. She signs to Scandinavian Records and adopts the name Bambee after people compare her eyes to Bambi from Disney’s animated film; the spelling is altered from “Bambi” to avoid copyright issues. A friend, Shortcut, helps with the name idea. Bambee’s songs are written by Linnea Handberg, also known as Miss Papaya, together with Honeycutt and Left Hand Productions.

Music and reception

Bambee’s best-known songs include “Bumble Bee”, “Spaceman”, “Online”, “Typical Tropical” and “Candy Girl”. Her music is strongly associated with Dance Dance Revolution, where several of her biggest tracks are used regularly. She performs in clubs across Norway and Scandinavia and appears on a cross-country festival tour arranged by national media and broadcast live on television. She also appears at the Radio 1 Big City event and is invited to host the Radio 1 Music Awards show.

Later activity

A third Bambee album is planned but never issued. In 2024, Modern Entertainment acquires the digital rights to her music and releases a sped-up version of “Bumble Bee” after the song gains popularity on TikTok. She later announces that she is making new music, and a 2025 recording titled “Bambeeland” is released in 2026, marking her first new release in many years.
