Seattle band history
Another Bam Bam is a band founded in 1983 by producer and guitarist Tommy Martin. Its line-up includes Tina Bell, who becomes one of the first African American women to front a hard rock, punk and grunge band in the United States, as well as musicians including Matt Cameron, Scotty Buttocks, Nick Rhinehart, Mike Peterson, Tom Hendrickson and Paul Hinklen. Producers Chris Hanzsek and Jack Endino describe the group as part of Seattle history.
The band tours in the United States and Europe, plays with acts including Alice In Chains, Temple of the Dog, Guns N' Roses, Yngwie Malmsteen, Bob Mould, Soundgarden, Faith No More, No Means No, The Fastbacks, The U-Men, Skin Yard, Napalm Beach and The Refuzers, and appears at the first two Hempfests and the 1990 Pain In The Grass Festival. Kurt Cobain acts as roadie when The Melvins begin their first tour opening for Bam Bam in 1984. The group lasts for nearly ten years, despite racism and misogyny, a European squat tour, a period of being detained in England, line-up changes and internal pressures.
