Balloon Ascents

Balloon Ascents are a five-piece alt-rock group from Oxford. The band has played together since the age of thirteen and develops a sound that draws on Mogwai, Tame Impala, Radiohead, Neil Young and The Beatles. Their music combines misty-eyed melancholy with psychedelic math-rock rhythms, alongside more grooving material influenced by J.J. Cale.

Career

The group emerges from its own home-built studio and builds a profile through radio play, interviews and live sessions. In 2014, it plays three Sofar Sounds sessions, receives multiple BBC radio plays, and appears in interviews and live performances, as well as at UK festivals. It also begins a European tour in summer 2014, with more than ten gigs across three countries in acoustic and electric settings, including recording sessions and performances in record stores, venues, cafes and living rooms.

After returning from Europe, Balloon Ascents have headline shows lined up in Oxford, including the main stage at the OxfordOxford Festival, along with further dates in London. The band also records its debut EP, which is made up of songs from the European tour.
