Balkan Hotsteppers is a group from Leuven, Belgium, active since 2006. It is formed by Belgian DJs Sam Rabam and Typsy Gypsy. The act emerges from the European BalkanBeats scene and releases mixtapes on the internet.

Style and repertoire

The group combines modern beats with Balkan, gypsy and klezmer melodies, and mixes these with hip-hop. Its stated range includes Balkan mashups, klezmer beats, gypsy punk, Russian ska, Romano hip hop and Yugoslavian brass influences.

By the early years of its career, Balkan Hotsteppers performs across Europe, including in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, the UK, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Spain and Portugal.
