Baauer
Baauer is the stage name of Harry Rodrigues, a producer from Philadelphia, United States, born in 1989. He works in electronic music, with his output linked to trap, bass music, grime, hip hop and trap EDM, and he also has associations with trapwave and trapstyle.
Early work and style
He starts making dance music at the age of 13, initially focusing on house music and electro. His influences include hip-hop and dance music. Before using the Baauer name, he releases a track as Captain Harry, which is played by Kissy Sell Out on BBC Radio 1.
Releases and collaborations
Baauer signs with LuckyMe in August 2012. His single “Harlem Shake” is released on Mad Decent/Jeffrees and becomes his best-known track. It receives critical attention and becomes widely shared online through a wave of fan-made videos. The single reaches number 1 on the US iTunes chart and number 2 on iTunes in the UK and Australia. He also works with hip-hop producer Just Blaze on “Higher”, and they tour together across January and February 2013.
Remixes and related work
He produces remixes for Nero, The Prodigy, Flosstradamus and No Doubt. He is also reported as working on an EP for LuckyMe Records.
